What are Obstacles?
As you progress throughout the game, you will encounter various obstacles. Here are some obstacles that you will encounter and ways to overcome them.
- Storm Cloud
Stationary object with an associated breaker on the object. Matching adjacent or hitting with breaker hits the Wishing Well. After 3 hits, Wishing Well creates 3 random breaker associated with the Wishing Well. Wishing Well is then reset.
Multilayered Object that can be destroyed by matching adjacent or with breakers. Breakers continue after hitting coconuts. Coconuts cascade and can be moved with match pieces.
- Mini Amulets
Mini Amulets start as one of the set initial colors. Hitting it 3 times activates the mini amulet and destroys all match pieces of the same color. Unlike Wishing Wells, Mini Amulets are a 1 time use.
Multilayer stationary object that can be destroyed by adjacent matches and breakers. Breakers continue to move through clay after removing a layer.
- Conveyor Belts
Moving floor (river) that transports pieces 1 tile between turns. Clay, Stones, Ice, and Color Pies cause the conveyor to be immobile while Wishing Wells and Amulets can move along it.
- Storm Cloud 2
This storm cloud is stationary, and after every 3rd turn adds a new layer adjacent to it. Layer activation is paused for 1 turn after a storm cloud has been destroyed. It can not place a layer of ice on obstacles.
- Large Amulet
A 2x2 obstacle that takes 8 hits to activate. Once activated, the object will destroy itself along with 1 layer across the entire game board.
- Mystery Pieces
A multilayer mobile object (Walnut) that contains a match piece. Matching next to it or with a breaker will remove a layer. Each removed layer reveals more of what is inside of it.
- Color Pie
Match 4, 5, or 6 different colored match pieces adjacent to this obstacle to destroy it and take 1 layer off of the board.
Single Layer stationary obstacle that is exclusive to Panda mode. Activated breakers move past Vines similar to Ice. Vines also behave similar to goo by enveloping 1 adjacent piece every turn. Only bamboo pieces can be enveloped by vines and destroying 1 vine will stop the growth for 1 turn.
- Cover Cannon
A multilayer stationary object that can be placed facing up, down, left, or right. Cover cannons will fire every 3rd turn and add a layer of Parakeet Cover. Shots from the cover cannon will not go through stationary objects such as Stone or Clay but will go through moving objects such as mystery pieces and coconuts. Cannons can also go over invisible brick or empty spaces to lay cover.
- Plus Move
A colored match piece that grants +2 moves to the player when matched. +2 moves can not be used in Race Mode.
Bubbles protect hippo/log from 1 layer of damage. They spawn randomly and will respawn after 1 turn. The max number of bubbles on the board and the total number of bubbles in the level can be decided in the hippo tab.
Pitfalls are exclusive to Path and Race Mode. They can only be placed on the tortoises path and they do not take up the space above it. Pitfalls will only activate once the tortoise is on top of it for 1 turn. Once activated, the tortoise will sink into the pitfall and players will need to collect 1 tortoise token to pop the tortoise out. Pitfalls can only be activated once and will remain deactivated if the tortoise passes over it.
- Stun Piece
A colored match piece that is exclusive to Race Mode. Matching with this match piece will stun the hair for 1 turn. The hare will continue it's movement pattern after the turn has ended.
- Storm Cloud 3
This storm cloud moves vertically or horizontally across the board every 3rd turn. Removing another storm cloud on the board pauses it for 1 turn. It adds 1 layer to objects it passes over and will stop once it reaches an edge or obstacle.
